On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of Jugoslovenska kinoteka, we have prepared the new permanent exhibition including valuable exhibits from pre-history and history of film, with special attention drawn to development of domestic film art.
The new permanent exhibition, titled Our Film Museum, will be formally opened on 23rd January 2020.
Through 28 exhibition sections, visitors will be able to see different periods and aspects, technologically and artistically important for development of cinematography until the end of the 20th century.
The oldest exhibited items originate from the 19th century, among which are the exquisite Kaiserpanorama and the first Lumière brothers` camera. There are also cameras from the 20th century which belonged to Aleksandar Lifka and the Serbian cameraman Mihailo Mihailovic, better known as Mika Africa.
A part of the exhibition is dedicated to early cinemas and pioneers of film in this region, with special emphasis on the first Serbian feature film Karadjordje (1911). In other sections, documentary film from the period of the Balkan Wars and World War I is presented, the accomplishments of our artists in the world, Belgrade on film in the interwar period, film newsreels and advertisements, as well as producers’ companies.
In accordance with chronology, presentation of phenomena and significant authors of Yugoslav and Serbian cinematography after World War II ensues.
Multimedia exhibition includes selected scenes from films, film music composed by domestic composers, a part of ample collections of posters, photographs, documents and other accompanying material.
The exhibition also includes the items from the legacies of Ljubisa Samardzic, Pavle Vuisic, Milena Dravic, Dragan Nikolic, Zivojin Pavlovic and others.
Permanent exhibition was created by the expert team of Jugoslovenska kinoteka. Architecture and exhibition design was done by Ivan Mangov and Vesna Orovic on behalf of the studio Vju, and graphic design and visual identity was done by Nikola Radojcic, Isidora Tomic and Dusan Stokic, on behalf of the studio Braca Burazeri.
